JOB DESCRIPTION
Job:  Housekeeper

Responsibilities

  • Prepare apartments for move-in as assigned
  • Perform general cleaning assignments in apartments, hallways and common areas
  • Utilize cleaning chemicals properly and safely in accordance with department guidelines
  • Inform supervisor of any pertinent resident issues or concerns
  • Required to stand frequently; walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel and crouch
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision ability’s required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Responsible for assistance with set-up of dining rooms, waiting tables, serving food, and/or cleaning-up of dining room areas
  • Provides friendly and professional assistance with all residents and accepts responsibility to deliver outstanding customer service
  • Meeting the needs of all residents equally
  • Reporting promptly and accurately, anything unusual regarding resident status or building issues
  • Assisting with resident needs in the Assisted Living dining room
  • Assisting with gathering residents for activity programs, as requested
  • Assist residents with any special request separate from cleaning duties that can be accommodated with general knowledge
  • Demonstrates accountability and flexibility in adjusting to variable workload and job duties
  • Is organized, efficient, and prioritizes appropriately according to resident and assisted living needs
  • Cooperates with other coworkers in reassignments to meet resident housekeeping, laundry or food service needs
  • Completes assigned and unassigned responsibilities / tasks during the shift
  • Consistently offers assistance to every other staff member in every area of Assisted Living or Memory Care during assigned shifts
  • Reacts calmly and effectively in emergency situations, anticipates needs of entire unit of Assisted Living and Memory Care apartments
  • Remains flexible regarding staffing patterns, and actively seeks the resolution of staffing conflicts
  • Assumes responsibility for being on time
  • Completes restocking, and monitoring of cleaning product inventory to assure that supplies are available
  • Utilizes professional communication skills effectively
  • Demonstrates open and courteous communication with residents, families and visitors
  • Demonstrates open and courteous communication with coworkers, supervisor and/or manager
  • Relays pertinent information through verbal communication with appropriate department supervisors
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all resident information including that of family, friends, and staff
  • Contributes constructively to successful implementation of changes, new ideas, and Performance Improvement activities
  • Participates in Service Excellence activities / programs
  • Maintains and strengthens current clinical knowledge through attendance at staff meetings and in-services
  • Completes required competencies
  • Attending All Staff Mandatory in-services
  • Completion of orientation checklist
  • Demonstrates accountability and flexibility in adjusting to variable workload and job duties
  • Is organized, efficient, and prioritizes appropriately according to resident and assisted living needs
  • Completes assigned and unassigned responsibilities / tasks during the shift
  • Remains flexible regarding staffing patterns, and actively seeks the resolution of staffing conflicts
  • Assists Care Givers and Department Leaders with resident care when requested.

Job Requirements

  • Experience working with elderly population
  • Desire to work with seniors.
  • High School diploma / GED preferred.
  • Able to provide housekeeping and laundry services in a resident centered environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and competent in organizational, time management skills.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Ability to work semi-independently without direct supervision by following all community procedures and guidelines and having the ability to follow through on assigned tasks, and demonstrates initiative.
