The Activities Assistant will assist in creating a vibrant activities program at New Hope Valley by conducting individual and group activities, and assisting in the planning and coordination of activities. This position requires a level of comfort in working with both assisted living and memory care residents. The ideal candidate will be compassionate and patient, particularly toward the elderly. He or she will also be creative, able to multi-task, and able to engage residents. Because the residents require stimulation and activities year-round, the Activities Aide’s schedule may include some evenings, weekends, and holidays.




Assist with planned activities by setting up the activity area, gathering residents, leading them through the activity, and escorting residents back to their apartments
Interact with residents in a positive manner, encouraging them to be as active and independent as possible
Help plan and chaperone resident outings into the community

May include transportation of residents

Assist in planning of activities, proactively sharing new ideas and suggestions
Maintain bulletin boards with relevant information for the community
Direct volunteers as needed
Tracks resident activity participation
Attend monthly Resident Council meetings for feedback on activities
Visit residents one-on-one to provide socialization
Assist in setting up and taking down seasonal decorations
Attend mandatory staff meetings
Maintain a cheerful, comfortable environment for residents
Assist memory care residents during mealtimes
Complete other tasks as needed




Upbeat, engaging personality
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education preferred
Ability to motivate people and be sensitive to their needs
Physical ability necessary to help transport residents
Ability to prioritize tasks and complete work efficiently
Basic knowledge of computers and technology
Team-oriented, with ability to develop positive relationships with staff and residents
Strong communication skills
